Class Max: 18 people (Age: 18+)
Participants Need to Prepare:
- One 60-90 second monologue/poem/spoken word piece/story/any collection of words that speaks to them
- A 32 bar cut from a contemporary musical
- Being Stakes
This course encourages you to BE! This practice will shed layers of societal expectations and pressures of who you’re told you are, and introduce you to beginnings of your true authentic self/ artistry. You’ll find that sometimes the truth comes out of silence…
- Radical Listening
This course is practice of listening past the audible. In this session you will learn to listen from your physical, energetic, intellectual, and emotional body. You will also learn to listen from the character's wound and perspective.
- Acting for Musical Theatre Artists
So many times we rely solely on our voices in musical theatre. We abandon the character for the sake of sounding good. This session will explore living authentically under the characters circumstances while singing.
LAW, is Tom Hanks Scholar (BFA WSU) and Grammy nominated Actor, Singer, Teaching Artist, and Producer. He’s been most recently seen on Broadway in Girl from the North Country u/s Joe Scott and Waitress as Cal. Some of his regional credits are Sex with Strangers, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Seminar. His film/tv credits are Little Voice on Apple TV and Miles Ahead with Don Cheadle. He’s grateful for his beautiful daughter and Yale School of Drama.
